If you have the wires run correctly then check your ground wire and I don't mean to see if it's fastened to the frame. Sounds like you are grounding thru the other turn signal. It is always best to run the ground wire from the trailer plug to all of the lights and electric brakes. Frame grounding will work if you take the ground wire off the frame, clean the frame and ground wire, use a good amount of dielectric grease then bolt back onto the frame.
