Subject: How can I install ports in device manager?

Crawford County, Robinson, Illinois

I am running XP pro on a laptop computer.  I used to be able to detect ports, many of them, LPT and serial, when running device manager.

While I was trying to solve a printer problem, I seem to have deleted all ports in device manager.

Now when I run device manager, I see no ports at all, not even a line that would list the ones I had.  All the solutions I see on my searches has to do with inactive ports, ones that are checked or have a yellow question mark, but nothing about not being able to see any ports.

Any ideas how I can get them back?  I tried the recycle bin, it is blank.  I searched microsoft.com, can find no help there.

Device manager no longer shows any ports, I have tried the help screens there with no solutions I can find.

There has to be a way to get these ports back, right?
