We have found that the symptoms you are seeing can be caused by poor power to the unit. When a storm is near the humidity may be higher and cause problems with a connection. The best thing to do is to get rid of the cig plug if you are still using it. Go direct to battery for your power and ground. Be sure to keep a fuse in line and I would add a good quality switch.
