North Central Texas | That is a normal yearly move. The north floods the market with light calves in October and the price drops. Our spring calves at 6-7 weight never do what the fall borns at 7 weight do. Limited supply from the falls and big excess in the spring equals lower prices. Even Vegas would have 100 to 1 odds on calves being high in october. That's the normal market swing. For several years nothing (grains or cattle) followed the norm with too many spec funds invested. Now it is starting to do what the books say it should. Long term averages mean a lot now. | |
