N FLA | No. But, I tend to sell more problems like hard gainers or cows going backwards. Often someone will bid them over slaughter to try to fix them. Or I sell them seasonally memorial day July 4 labor day and order buyers have instructions yo "do what it takes." I also sell cows that raised a runt calf, but to the eye look pretty good and they often go back to farm.
I think we can drop them off at local market for sale direct to the remaining packer, if it seems like the right thing to do. But mostly I think we are doing a little better this year by selling at auction. Obviously I can't compare, but I've felt like I came out "on top" on cow sales this year. | |
