When we break posts in our barn we leave the concrete in place. Granted these are 6x6 posts with only 6-8" of concrete around. A light pole might be harder to find the same size. We cut them off flush with the concrete, then cut both directions through the post. This quarters them. We then pull quarters out and push a new post in the hole. Usually still a very tight fit, and connecting them to the neck 4ail really tightens it up.
Never straightened a gate like that. Usually our 6 rail gates turn into 2 or 3 rail before that happens. :-)
