No, there is not a way to put in a reference layer. If you wanted to mark where your varieties were in the field, you could create a boundary in the AFS or SMS software with a polygon around each variety and then export that to the display. It's not going to tell you what variety it is, it's only going to mark where your variety boundaries are.
