The fuel pump sits on 2 plastic dowls that are spring loaded on a hard impact they can shear and the fuel pump can tip on its side and lay on the bottom of the tank , I don't recall how big of tank is on the silverados but if it goes to chuging and you fill up and it gets full at 20 gallons and its a 27 gallon tank thats a really good sign that the pump broke the dowls
