You're actually noticing it now as the US dollar declines in value.

The Fed is acting waaaay out on the margins of their statutory authority, and by taking on paper that could go down significantly in value, they'd be breaking wholly new ground in the history of central banks, which would further erode confidence in the Fed (and the US dollar).
