West Central Illinois | Agree, would not spend all my time on Oahu. Big Island has lots more to do: Volcanoes NP, several different climates, Parker Ranch, wet tropical side where Hilo is at is prettiest and probably a little cheaper. We stayed at a BandB and watched whales every morning while eating breakfast on the outside patio. If you go to Volcanoes, pack an evening lunch so you can stay to see the volcano after dark. The glow is tremendous compared to daytime. Kauai is the prettiest and lushest island. Highlight of our stay there was a helicopter tour with the doors off. Amazing views of canyons, waterfalls (including the Jurassic Park one) and the Napali Coast.
