| we ran with 3 guys for years (cutter, truck, and pile guy). we've hired it done the last 2 years, but it's just too expensive. we've got the machinery and the man power, might as well do it ourselves. We have a nice JD 3970 cutter in the shed. I've got a recently retired friend that ran grain cart for me this fall and said he'd gladly help with silage next year. I've considered a self propelled, but with their price I might as we'll hire and not have the headache of maintance and repairs.
