Centre county Pennsylvania, USA | User opinion, only:
The "any downside to setting Use SBAS satellites in position fix to ON" question can only be answered after users have been given the opportunity to use it both ways. If there is a downside, some user will find it !!!
Our EZ-500 w WAAS does default "use SBAS in the position fix" to ON if it was powered down with that setting. In other words, it appears to update it's "Use SBAS in the position fixes" default settings to the setting that it was using when last powered down. That's a very good default strategy for any new processing capability upgrade, let the customer decide what default setting he/she wants for any new processing capability. It's great to see that Trimble has provided that default strategy in the EZ-500, then if the user finds a downside (question 1), he/she has a simple workaround without waiting for version upgrade. That appears to be a (welcome) change in default strategy from the last EZ- plus firmware upgrade's default for which WAAS satellite is used for corrections. Our EZ-plus defaults to WAAS satellite 138 OFF when it was powered down with WAAS satellite 138 set to Heed Health :( |
