the swap of the antennas can be made without turning off the receivers. However, all that is needed is the WAAS SNRs which are independent of the DGPS accuracy and the IONO model data collection. After the EZ-Guide 500 using WAAS has been on 12 minutes or so, the WAAS almanac is up to date and is saved over power cycles, and there is not the 10 minute restart, provided the warm restart is within an hour or so. You can see how this works by observing the different IONO messages in the GPS info tab on trhe 500. The WAAS IONO message appears pretty quickly with a warm start instead of the GPS IONO message with a cold start (A cold start in this case is several hours turned off to let the IONO data to get stale.)..
