Subject: RE: Why have " elephant size" cows? cline,

North West MO
I'd be embarrassed to say my cows weigh a thousand pounds. I have bread heifers that way over thousand pounds. I like them around 1400#. I see bread heifers go through the ring in the fall that are due to calve in February that weigh 900 pounds that's ridiculous! You're asking for Calving problems on a continental bull that way. The Angus around here are not elephant sized by no means they're short coupled and peaked butted but put a Simmental bull on them and then you have something. I know everybody is scared of an 80 pound calf everybody wants that little 65 pound Bambi that won't grow to be anything because they don't have the bone structure. It's kind like humans if you come from big people you're going to be big if you come from Little people you're going to be a little pretty simple.
