Subject: RE: Greenstar and raven 440

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
You will need some type of speed connection to the Raven. This speed could be from a real radar gun, a wheel sensor or one of the GPS substitutes that generates a radar like signal.

The Raven 440 console is advertised as being GPS ready. This is really not quite correct since it does not get any GPS information inside it.

What the Ad really means is that the Raven 440 has the ability to work with other GPS based devices and can communicate with them via a serial cable. The information that goes back and forth over this cable is not GPS information at all. The other device can send over rate changes that are based on GPS but the Raven never sees actual GPS informatin such as Lat/Lon. The Raven can report back what it is doing so the other device can log/map what is happening which is GPS based.
