Ben, those are some utility poles that were replaced along the road by my farm when the local electric coop came through moving and replacing poles.  I cut them to 10 ft lengths to get the height that I need.  Some are better than others but they should last a lot longer than 5-10 years! Hedge is not very common nor available around here.
