western iowa,by Denison | well now Mark that is not true as moisture effects the tonnage-and actual tonnage is effected by husk, cob etc-
you can have one aera yielding 10 ton to the acre and the next yielding 9ton with the 9ton having more corn at same moisture
fairest way is to chop 1 acre of earlage and weigh it and combine 1 acre and weigh it-then your close
as far as 2-5$ ton chopping cost-at 7 ton acre earlage that would be $14 acre to $35 acre-pretty good chance a $35 acre earlage guy probably cant hit the wagon-average custom guys do it for $10 ton plus hauling-
I do earlage chopping for $65 acre plus fuel and you get 3 haulers and the chopper guy-I figure I loose about $5 acre but its a really nice hobby and at 2-3,000 acres a year its only a $15,000 loss-
your putting your earlage at 69# a bushel-I have seen it from100# a bushel to 60# a bushel-I want to sell you some earlage at that 29 bushel a ton rate-I will be a happy camper!
You could be from $10-$40 a ton off | |
