Buy a bale wrapper and you can realize all of your "pros" and eliminate all of your "cons" at the same time. If you wish to use the alfalfa baleage in a TMR you would also need a cutter baler. Nothing wrong with chopping, but it sounds like baleage would be a more cost effective option since you don't already own a chopper, trucks, etc..
