Subject: What kind of ants are these?

What kind of ants are these? They are very small, a lot smaller then the typical ant you see. I hope you can see them, they kind of blend in with the color of the sink basin shown here. There driving my wife crazy, she's tried ant killer poison and it doesn't seem to phase them. They do the typical single file march going back and forth to there home. You can't believe the size of hole they go in and out of, very, very tiny. You plug it and a week or so later they come back out of a different hole. This house has been in the family since the spring of 1956 and this is the first year I've ever seen of these small guys around here.

We've had the usual ants occasionally in the past and the ant poison with always get rids of them in short order. Not these guys though. Any suggestions?
