Realize that I am in Ames so it’s going to be a bit different. Around here, you don’t get a baby sitter for less than $10/hr and if you do they work about as hard as a cat…let alone a house keeper…ours was $80/wk for 2.5 hours…
For daycare around here I am in $1300/month for two kids. It is full service and is an educational program too, but that’s a lot of change we are paying out. What your granddaughter is doing is probably more of babysitting, and if she is CPR certified etc. I think in rural parts you should really expect her to be getting at lease min. wage or better. For the cleaning, she should be getting something too and it shouldn’t be expected unless it’s picking up the toys and doing the lunch/snack dishes.
