western iowa,by Denison | Well,my week ended close to my price on 40 head of Feb Fat cattle-I had sold a lot of cattle earlier at $130-$133 contracted before the fats started to rally-had 40 head left that I wanted to get close to $1.60 to lock them in
on June 18th I bought 1 Feb(160) 2015 call for $1-my cost was $433 with commission-I figured 1 call on my 40 head to keep it simple-
on July 31st I sold the Feb call back and got $4.07.1/2 or $1630 or close to a $1200 profit '
on July 22nd I contracted the 40 head for Feb delivery to my packer for $156.85
with the call profit I figured about $2.50 a hundred added back into my 1200# heifers
close ended up with $156.85 +$2.50 or around $159.35
now what to do with that 1 annoying put I bought on June 13th for a $144 strike price-paid $1.25 for-I see I can sell it back for 1.60 today-well maybe Monday-would add another $100 to my bottom line?
Getting close add another quarter-$159.35 +$.25 gets me to $159.60-so close?
