Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | I have a 9650 STS also and have been following this disucssion. Fortunately I have not had the above problem.
Since an actual Cigarette Lighter would draw considerable current, it seems unlikely to me that the cell phone/satellite radio setup could cause the circuit board failure.
I use my cig lighter plug to recharge my cell phone and flashlight. It would be quite easy to install another lighter plug or two off of the power strip. I think I may do this anyway to get the plugs out of my way a bit.
The light duty plugs suitable for cell phones are very cheap and available most anywhere.
