Southeast Wyoming | crabbynuggets - 7/18/2014 19:39 I want to pick up a semi trailer that a relative bought in Nebraska. We live in South Dakota. It will be a 600 plus mile round trip. The tractor is a farm tractor with regular plates. The trailer will be for farm use. I have a CDL. There will be absolutely no load on anything. I saw in pictures that the trailer is missing a mud flap. Any issues in this?
As others have said, the missing mud flap is an invitation to be stopped.
And you don't want to be stopped with all the serious violations you may be committing. I suspect that not having a load is of little consequence when it comes to crossing state lines.
Be sure to have your medical card, your log book up to date, and any other things which the two states consider necessary for interstate "commerce"/travel. In some states your farm tractor is a farm tractor only if it is close to home.
Yes, you probably can slide in and back out but the right/wrong guy may make your trip miserable. Good luck. It sounds like an enjoyable trip if everything clicks right. |
