nw NC | Our garden is growing nicely. A bit later getting it started this year due to cold and wet April and early May, then farm workload in last half of May. Got stuff planted or set out first week of June. We have tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, peppers, okra, beans and two plantings of sweet corn. We intend to plant some black-eye peas yet. I cultivate the corn rows but we used old hay to mulch between the rows of beans and caged plants. My sisters also put several layers of newspaper up close around the tomato plants under the cage wire rings. My sisters and I do this garden for our mother who is 87 and has had to give up the strenuous things she used to do.
