Percentage terms make more sense. The only way a dollar chart would make sense is if a loaf of bread cost the same in every country. Walk down the aisle in any grocery store and you can see the price of bread varying by 2 to 3 dollars or even more. If I buy the dollar loaf and you buy the 4 dollar loaf, we both get the same nutritional value but you spent a lot more than me.



I agree Nelson. I buy convenience and ready to eat items that would offer the same nutritional value if I bought a more basic food product and processed it myself.

I came home yesterday with some small plastic bowls of pre-cut watermelon, muskmelon, and mixed fruit from the grocery deli section. All I have to do is take off the lid and eat it. I then have a bowl to discard, and my spoon to wash.

If I would buy the actual fruit and cut it up myself, that would be cheaper. Some might go to waste because when I buy a whole watermelon to eat by myself, it lasts a long time.
