| Ten days ago I traveled from central Illinois to Ohio. Everything looked good until I made it to Indianapolis. Once east the crops looked way too wet. The west side of Ohio also was extremely wet. I came back west through central Indiana and by the time I hit 65 corn and soybeans looked good. From 65 west through Illinois most fields looked great. This area looks as good as its ever looked. The corn will be head high by July 4th. Very few spots are drowned out. If you drive from Chicago to St. Louis you will rarely see a bad looking field. If we don't do anything wrong we should have a very good crop, but obviously it will never be as good as Iowa's. I'm sorry others haven't been so fortunate but this area has had very good weather. We've been in your shoes before but not this year. | |
