Oh, now I get you. Growing barley doesn't pay, so farmers quit growing it.

For me, I couldn't get my soybeans in, so I seeded (feed, not malting) barley into that ground. If barley price stays low, I feed it to my cattle & turn it into high priced lbs. of beef & will let the rest sit in the bins for next year. If price goes up, I'll sell my surplus.
