NW of Lincoln, NE | Our family went up there last year.
The Powder House east of Hill City was decent and Black Hills Burger and Bun Co. in Custer was really good. The former is more of a sit down and dine type of place while the latter is a noisy little joint where you still order from your seat but things move pretty quickly.
Other than that my wife and I were rather disappointed with the food up there. I figured with the billion tourists that blow through there every year we would be able to find a few more places that were pretty good, but so many of them had an old-fashioned food from the freezer type of menu and were overpriced, to boot.
I guess, though, you don't go up there for the food, really. It's about the scenery and activities. I had some great fun trout fishing near State Game Lodge and some of the drives were pretty incredible. We also saw more wildlife there (and closer up) than at any other park we've been to. | |
