Roann In.
We have about 6' to 8' of pavers up to the pool lip itself. Then the river rock is outside of that for an area for my wife to have her flowers and plants etc etc.........We did have a fence company come in and install a 4' tall privacy fence around the west and south side of the pool. (Our business and home are on the same property) The north side is all deck and the east side is the back of the home. My wife had it done pretty nicely, I have no clue about that stuff. It made a couple of local papers and the landscaper uses it in his advertising brochure and on line. Good luck with the bugs and worms.........we still get them all the time and the stinking leaves in the fall. Gives the skimmer quite a workout sometimes. We have sprayed bug and ant killer around the perimeter of the pavers from time to time, can't tell it makes any difference really. One of the pleasures of living in the country I guess.
