Whole beans will vary in the 34-40% protein range based on variety, fertility, oil content, etc. As stated above, it is very volatile protein and will become ammonia in the rumen. I've fed .25-.5# to dairy cows at times, when our balage quality was mediocre, and fiber digestion was poor. I would not feed more than that as too much would cause ovarian cysts.
