Was outside putting up an electric fence and Jake, our dog, came up to me and stood watching for a few moments. After he walked off, I heard him growling pretty rough. This dog never growls. I walked over to where he was at and there was a 3' rattlesnake coiled up looking at him. This was right next to my shed so I grabbed a how and dispensed with the snake. Evidently Jake thought he did something wrong so he took off running. I called him back, (had to call several times and he always comes running on the first call, he finally come slinking to me and I gave him a big hug told him he was a good boy. He then started wagging his tail then walked over and barked at the dead snake. He was snake bit a couple of years ago and evidently he remembers it.
