| Had that surgery about 2-1/3 years ago. My eye is still improving, and changing. Glasses change needed again. The first months are required to be face down while the injected gas bubble helps push the retina back into place. Not a practical position for running machinery, and poor for eating and reading. He'll be visiting the eye doctors often for a couple months but won't be able to drive. After that it gets better.
