They do this with my pumpkins and it's voles as mentioned. They will find every seed like radar. Best thing to do take a damp soaked rag with diesel. Just enough so it gets the smell on the seed and throw the seed and the rag in a bucket and toss everything around. Won't hurt anything in the end and they won't touch it guaranteed.
