Central Texas | Likely rumensin will discourage consumption at first as it has some palatability issues. As calves get used to it consumption should increase. If you have problems getting them started on feed with rumensin, may need to start without then switch in a few weeks. My mix uses bovatec as it is more palatable than rumensin.
Been my experience given free choice hay and free choice byproduct mix, calves will eat about 2%bw of mix and 1/2%bw of hay. That's why using a 10% cs hulls mix instead of hay will get a higher adg.
