| Heck, I make myself hungry while I'm on my diet! Try sorrel soup: Gently and quickly cook a dozen sorrel leaves with butter, then add to a couple of boiled potatoes in its broth and mix well, add sour cream and serve.
Sorrel is a weed in Europe, mostly in wheat fields, but there's some American species too.
Garden sorrel is still botanically very similar to the original weed, the leaves contain a mildly toxic acid, so you should not eat too much of it. The acidic leaves play the same role as lemon on fish, you don't need to add lemon to it. | |
