ECIL | A relative of mine once worked in the maternity ward of a hospital. After one delivery, when they asked the mother what the child was to be named (for the birth certificate) the mother said "A-sho'-le (phonetic pronounciation). None of the staff would sign the certificate with that name and it took well over an hour to convince the mother, and father, what the pronounciation of the name really was. The spelling was the same as the phonetic pronounciation, except with an extra "S" and no dashes. | |
