I would just suggest when you rent a car upgrade to a Jeep. There is a road on the far side, west side of the island to a large, very nice beach that is rough, and I mean rough. The surf is rough there too and help would be a long ways away. It is near an area where the seed companies have operations.

Very good suggestion. I tried taking our rental car down there, and gave up when we came across some ruts that would have swallowed it. We ended up taking one of the cruises to see the west coastline, which is also something I'd suggest. We were supposed to stop and snorkel at a reef on the trip, but evidently hammerhead sharks had been frequenting the area so we couldn't.
