East Central South Dakota | Started a commercial hunting business, farm and cattle. Something had to give as it was to much work. Dad liked the cows and was getting in his seventies and I like the farming better. The inefficiencies (see above post by mn feeders) drove me crazy. This year with cold and winter neighbors will feed mama cows for six months again. Hard to feed a cow that long and make money. Might as well dry lot her the rest of the year and save pasture rent. Bottom line is to much work for something I didn't enjoy that much and all my land is farmable. |
