+3 on 12.5 gauge high tensile, but with a quality energizer. I too hate woven wire mainly because of the cost.

High tensile wire requires fewer posts significantly reducing the overall cost. On flat ground, I place post at 50 ft intervals versus 15 ft for woven or barbed wire.

I was hesitant on high tensile at first. The great success of it on my farm have eliminated the hesitation. I now have 5 miles of 12.5 gauge wire on my small farm.
