Subject: RE: Looking after heifers calving

King City, Mo
I paid a neighbor $30/live calf to help me calf out heifers i kept a few years ago. Plus $25/hr per hr pulling a calf after the 1st one. He lives just up the road and goes by anyways making his rounds checking cows.

I was here, and did all the feeding ect and he was just to help check, and if we had trouble to be in charge of what to do. Dad had always back-grounded heifers as I was growing up so wanted a little extra help and education along when they went to calf.

Everything turned out good. He was happy, I was happy. We only had to pull one calf. I came up with the $30 as it was what it would cost to sell the heifer at the time at the sale barn.

So maybe $30 extra? calves are worth more now so i dunno?
