Surely can find someone to look in on your cows as needed when you want to go away. Have used sale barn employees, retirees and others to keep an eye on my cows when need to be away. If a person has the right cows, they shouldn't need much assistance for much of the year. As long as they have plenty of feed and water, well qualified, experienced cows can manage themselves for quite a while. Other than making sure they have plenty to eat and drink, have found it best for me to stay out of the way and let the cows do their job.

FWIW-used to think they needed me around most every day but have since learned differently. Currently planning a trip next year that will have us away for about 2 weeks. Will have someone check in on them every day or 2 whether they need it or not. Cows have been doing their jobs without our help for thousands of years so why not take advantage of it.

If you need an excuse not to get away, then having cows is an easy sell, its your choice.
