hell no its not pointless. First off if you file an extention you realize that is just for filing the proper returns not the money, the money due now. Next you file the extension so as to not hooked for huge penalties and interest on anything they want to apply it to, including as we found out yesterday, apparently some 30 year old tax fee from a relative
