East Central South Dakota | I was an engineering major. First two years at Mines and last two at SDSU. Two very different schools for the same major/curriculum. Mines has a lot of kids with pocket protectors and IQ's higher than their social skills, but very academically challenging school. SDSU has girls, social atmosphere, better bars and a more laid back atmosphere. Engineers at Mines do a lot of engineering after graduation. Engineers at SDSU do some sales, managing, some engineering and more business it seems to me. Take it for what it is worth. SDSU is a University and Mines is a Engineering College probably best way to describe it.
