NE Iowa | I hope you are not planning on keeping the cows or replacements confined in the shed all winter. Cows having access to a shed is fine, especially in Minnesota, but they need some excercise. 40 sq. feet is plenty of shed room for beef cows as long as they have an outside area also. Personally I would feed the cows at least outside. Much easier to keep clean if they go outside to eat. A combination hay / cattle shed works well for beef cows. Can fill the cow portion with hay and if you have moveable panels you can start giving them acces to the shed as you feed out the hay. When you get to this time of year you have all kinds of shed room available for calving. | |
