I have a hard time believing that a solar farm was even an idea in 1993 when Bundy quit paying his grazing fees.

He'd have a lot more ground to stand on if he'd done everything right, and still was kicked off his range. As it is, is looks like he's done everything wrong, so loosing the grazing lease seems like a natural progression.

I think we need more public grazing, and more public lands use all over the west. But to think that he should be able to run on Gold Butte forever and ever just because his great granddaddy did regardless of conditions? Seems a bit of a stretch.

While some of that may be true the Federal government's response is jack-booted thuggery just like with Waco.
Instead of putting sharpshooters on the hills and blocking off the First Amendment rights they should have waited for Bundy to go into town then "detain" him while the cowboys rounded up the herd.
They could have done this quickly and quietly but NOO, they have to make a loud statement for the whole country to see.
I suspect there is going to be a huge backlash politically over this.
