Subject: RE: Winter wheat market trading the weather forecast? heads up

Southeast Colorado
Most years around here the fallow wheat gets planted into dirt with some subsoil moisture. Last fall it did not. My summer fallow ground and continuous crop ground both stored equal moisture (basically nothing). I will venture a guess that as of right now in a 100 mile radius around me that 25% of the wheat is beyond help from rain. Probably over 50% of what is left would need 4 or 5 inches between now and harvest to even have a chance of needing a combine. The remaining 25% of the crop where folks caught some lucky rains last summer could make a crop with just the help of an inch or two but it probably better show up soon.
