Matt, learning a trade is a better route than over the road trucking. Even local hauling would be better for most folks. The best fit driving a truck and farming is with a propane company if you can find one interested in a seasonal driver. I did it, the driver who taught me did it, a couple friends have done it. But it takes the right combination of employer and employee to make it work.

And it takes someone with their head bent just right to make a good LP driver.

Also you will HAVE to be 21 with a CDL with hazmat, tanker, and air brake endorsements.

I'll toss a wild idea your way. Ever considered being a paramedic? I mentioned needing you head bent just right to drive an LP truck, you need one totally screwed up to be a medic. But if it fits it can be very rewarding in several ways. And with the weird way most services do scheduling it might fit in well with part time farming
