Frytown, Iowa | Hey rocky, don't hesitate on nongmo. Unless you have really high insect pressure you will be fine. More than likely insect pressure is low from all the triple stack out there anyways. Ask him about the contracts. Do you have to have the corn dry? Is it delivered in a weeks time or anytime during that month? April is getting close to planting and if they say haul, you haul at that inconvinient time. Can you have the freedom to price basis at a seperate time from Cbot? Typical NGMO premium is 40 cents here at the river.
I bet you will do well. As with anything new, I would not advise going 100%. Instead do a few fields that are isolated away from other corn fields and plant a shorter day hybrid so you get that corn harvested first, then you won't have to clean out your combine.
