you are missing something
you can remove the pin at the top of the extendy ho :) cylinder and pull the whole deal out, so you can replace the plastic slides at that time too.
Don't do this the morning your daughter is having her prom, but if you must, don't even look at a carpet knife while putting the nylon sleeves back on the hoses.
