Subject: RE: 1 thing: IF the Midwest is

New Mexico
6 or 7 years ago here in the Highlands of NM is when the weather really Changed to Really Big Dry.

The Dry Cold winds which I call the "Patagonia" effect arrived and has changed things.
( 20 to 35 below kinda stuff )

No snow to speak of in the winters now times.
AND Wind...dry cold winds more nights than days.

heck it never used to blow all night ( and night after night after night etc ) in the mountain country.

old normal was 36" of snow over the winter and Cold Still nights.

in 1999 you could not give away water in NM.
by 2001 things were pretty dry.
and it ain't rained nor snowed much since either.

snow pack this year is maybe 1/3 of normal.
the reservoirs for this season are generally bout 15% full on average.

Places like the Chama Bowl ( high good mountain bowls ) have had 7" of snow so far this snow season.
( normal snow on the chama bowl is 50 to 100" on the flats....old normal was always 5' deep there all winter )
